Masca Gorge

The Masca Gorge is one of the most spectacular hiking routes in Tenerife. The trail, approximately 5 kilometers long, descends from the hamlet to Masca Beach, traversing a landscape of steep walls, volcanic formations, and lush vegetation. Along the way, hikers can observe endemic species such as the cardón and the tabaiba, as well as native birds.

It is mandatory to make a prior reservation to access the trail, which is open only on weekends and holidays, with a limited number of visitors. Additionally, it is recommended to wear appropriate footwear, carry sufficient water, and use sun protection.

Upon reaching Masca Beach, a black sand cove surrounded by cliffs, hikers can enjoy a well-deserved rest and a swim in the Atlantic waters. Currently, the beach's pier is closed, so it is necessary to make the ascent back on foot.

For those wishing to explore further, Masca offers other activities such as visiting its viewpoints, ideal for photography, and tasting the local cuisine in its small restaurants. Additionally, it is possible to purchase traditional crafts, such as basketry and products made from palm and reed.
