Las Ventanas de Güímar

Here’s a suggested itinerary to make the most of Las Ventanas de Güímar: 

1. Arrive at Mirador de Don Martín: Park at the viewpoint entrance and enjoy your first panoramic glimpse of the Güímar Valley before setting off toward the famous rock “windows.” 

2. Enter the Ventanas de Güímar trail: This ~4–5 hour round‑trip hike climbs through old water channels and tunnels. Along the way, pass through several natural “windows” carved in the rock—bring a flashlight and good hiking shoes. 

3. Pause for the views: Mid‑route, stop at vantage spots to admire ravines, valleys and—even on clear days—the outline of Gran Canaria on the horizon. Perfect for photos. 

4. Return and head to Güímar’s old town: After the hike, drive into Güímar’s historic center. Wander its quiet streets, visit the Church of San Pedro, and explore the Pyramids of Güímar Ethnographic Museum. 

5. Sample the local cuisine: End your day with Canarian specialties at a nearby restaurant—try papas arrugadas with mojo, rabbit in salmorejo or a regional wine.
