From hiking trails and botanical gardens to boat trips and historic train journeys, these places allow you to connect with the natural and cultural essence of the region. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Sóller and explore corners that reflect its history, biodiversity and maritime heritage.
1. Visit the Alfabia Gardens: Located in the valley of Sóller, they combine Islamic landscaping with traditional Mallorcan elements. Founded in the 13th century, they have terraces, fountains and a wide variety of flora. They offer spectacular views of the Tramuntana mountain range and the estate includes a manor house with historical artefacts. An ideal place to enjoy nature and the history of Mallorca.
2. Visit the Botanical Garden of Sóller: A space dedicated to Mediterranean and Balearic flora, where you can see native plants and endangered species. This peaceful space is perfect for a relaxing stroll among the natural wealth of the region, ideal for those who wish to connect with Mallorca's unique biodiversity.
From the Sóller Botanical Garden, you can easily walk to the Plaza de la Constitución, the heart of the town. Here, you can visit the Church of Sant Bartomeu, enjoy the local cafes and restaurants, or simply relax and take in the atmosphere. It's a great place to stroll around and appreciate the modernist architecture that surrounds the square, as well as do some shopping in the nearby shops.
3. Church of Sant Bartomeu: The church of Sant Bartomeu, in the centre of Sóller, is an iconic monument with an impressive modernist façade designed by Joan Rubió i Bellver, a disciple of Gaudí. It blends Gothic, Baroque and Modernist styles, and its interior houses valuable historical altarpieces. Moreover, its privileged location in the main square makes it a central point from which to enjoy the lively atmosphere of Sóller, surrounded by cafés, restaurants and views of the majestic Serra de Tramuntana. It is a must-see for lovers of architecture and history.
4. Stroll around the Port of Sóller: This natural harbour is perfect for enjoying the local gastronomy in one of the restaurants facing the sea or for taking a boat trip. Also, in the port you will find a small museum called Museu de la Mar, located in an old restored chapel. Here you will find an interesting exhibition on the maritime history of Sóller and its relationship with the sea. On display are navigational instruments, historical objects and model ships that show how the inhabitants of the town depended on maritime trade and fishing. Ideal for those interested in maritime history and those who wish to learn more about Sóller's link to the sea.
5. Discover Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent by boat: From the Port of Sóller, you can take a boat trip along the Tramuntana coast to Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent, two coves hidden between cliffs. This boat trip is a unique experience, allowing you to admire Mallorca's rocky coastline from the sea. Once in Sa Calobra, you can visit the famous Torrent de Pareis, an impressive natural canyon that flows into the cove. It is an ideal plan for those who wish to combine a boat trip with exploring coves and natural landscapes.
Where to park:
During the summer months, both Sóller and Puerto de Sóller can get very busy, so it is advisable to arrive early to find free parking easily.
In Port de Sóller, although it is possible to find free parking, it is usually limited. If you are short on time, the most practical option is to opt for the paid car park for quick parking.
In the town of Sóller, in addition to the regulated parking (ORA), you will find several paid car parks. If you prefer to avoid the cost of parking, you can look for free spaces in less central areas, although this may involve a short walk to the centre.
