Sierra del Norte Natural Park

Less than an hour's drive from Seville, the Sierra Norte Natural Park is a paradise of nature, white villages and landscapes full of contrasts. This protected area, which is part of the Dehesas de Sierra Morena Biosphere Reserve, invites the traveller to disconnect among holm oak groves, streams and routes that seem to be taken from a fairy tale. Here you will find trails among oak trees, hidden waterfalls and charming villages where you can taste local products such as Iberian ham or caldereta serrana.

Touring this park by car is the best way to take advantage of its extension, as you can visit several villages and natural corners in a single day. Each stop offers a different experience: from the majesty of Cerro del Hierro to the cobbled streets of Cazalla de la Sierra. Get ready to enjoy a day where tranquility and local gastronomy will be the protagonists. Don't forget your camera, because the landscapes you will find here are postcard-worthy. With the car at your disposal, you will have the freedom to discover the best-kept secrets of this corner of Seville.

Here are five essential stops to make the most of the Sierra Norte Natural Park:

1. Explore the Cerro del Hierro Natural Monument: Start your adventure by visiting this spectacular natural landscape, where ancient mines and karst rock formations have sculpted a unique landscape full of caves and cliffs. It is ideal for a hike or an unforgettable photo shoot. If you are a hiking lover, you can walk the Cerro del Hierro Trail (PR-A 310), a circular route of about 2.5 km that you can complete in 1 or 1.5 hours while enjoying the impressive geological formations and the old mining tunnels. If you have more time, you can link up with the Water Route (PR-A 340), a more extensive excursion that connects with the Huéznar Waterfalls and takes you through some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the area.

2. Discover the Huéznar Waterfall: Just 5 kilometres by car from Cerro del Hierro, the magical Huéznar Waterfall, also known as the Cork Mill Waterfalls, awaits you. This natural corner is a spectacle of crystal clear waters surrounded by lush vegetation, where the sound of the water envelops you in an atmosphere of pure serenity. It's the perfect place to relax, have a picnic, or just enjoy the scenery.

Although there is a hiking trail that connects the two points, the journey on foot can take around an hour. If you prefer to make the most of the day, we recommend arriving by car to comfortably enjoy this incomparable place

3. Visit Cazalla de la Sierra and its historical heritage: Cazalla is one of the most emblematic villages in the park. Stroll through its old town, discover the church of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación and visit some of its distilleries, famous for the production of anise and artisanal liqueurs.

4. Have lunch in Constantina: enjoy the mountain cuisine: We recommend you make a stop in Constantina to savor the local cuisine. Here you can enjoy a plate of lamb stew, scrambled eggs with mushrooms or a good Iberian ham. The restaurants in the center will offer you an authentic experience.

5. Relax in San Nicolás del Puerto: End the day in this charming town, where you can stroll along the artificial beach of the Galindón River or rest in its natural environment. Don't miss the Roman bridge and the quiet atmosphere that characterises this hidden corner.
